So you wonder—are we really supposed to obey the authorities? Yes, because Scripture teaches: Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by Him. Resisting these authorities is resisting what God has established. And when rebellion takes root, judgment follows.
But remember this: rulers are not meant to strike fear in those who do good, but in those who do wrong. If one walks in righteousness, there is no need to fear. Those in authority are meant to be God’s servants for the good of the people. But when wrongdoing prevails, fear is justified—for they do not bear the sword in vain. They serve as instruments of God’s justice.
So be subject to authority—not merely out of fear, but because conscience calls for it. This is why taxes are paid, and why respect and honor must be given where they are due. Those in authority are God’s ministers, working in His divine order.
But for the young, the restless, the uncertain—it may feel hard to yield, to trust, to obey. Know this: the Lord still loves in the midst of struggle. That’s why He gives time to grow, to learn, to come closer. As long as there is a desire to follow Him, no shame, no sorrow, no failure can separate one from His love. His grace covers all.
The world may seem broken. Some leaders may appear lost. It might even seem possible to do better. But God is the one who sees the whole picture. He alone judges rightly. He can use even imperfect authority to turn hearts back to Him, to instill reverence, and to call people into holiness. He stands at the threshold, offering peace and salvation to all who seek Him.
Let hearts unite with the Lord. Let freedom be seen not just as a gift, but as a responsibility—to glorify God. Throughout history, freedom has been won with courage, and now it can be used to shine His light. Government is not God, and God is not government. But even government exists under God’s sovereign hand. Authorities, like all, are servants—tools in His divine purpose.
Persecution may come when leaders stray from righteousness. This has happened before. Yet even then, God is worthy of praise for delivering His people. Christ reigns above all. He is the protector, the just ruler, the Prince of Peace.
Marvel at the strength and balance of the Lord. God chose His Son, Jesus Christ, to guard and guide. He has never abandoned His people. His presence remains. Government is but one form of authority—God is the final authority. So trust in Him with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will direct your path.
Love is greater than all. It endures. Followers of Christ are called to be servants of love and truth, living lives that honor the Lord. Show respect not just for human structures, but for the God who allowed them to exist. His wisdom is far above human vision. Each person and position is part of a plan far greater than any can fully understand.
True freedom begins with surrender—to Christ, to His calling. Let go of personal visions and allow Jesus to lead. Give time, talent, and thanksgiving to God. Whether through silence, art, meditation, service, or prayer—let it be worship.
Believe in the promises of Jesus. He offers strength, hope, and purpose to every believer. Every moment is a chance to listen for His voice, to align with His will, and to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to do His work.
Stay rooted in prayer. Be still and listen. Ask God to change hearts—especially the hearts of those who seem furthest from Him. Return constantly to Scripture. Be like children—humble, trusting, and open. Recognize the sheep He calls and lift them up.
When leaders forsake God, do not follow their ways. God opposes the arrogant and defiant. But He blesses those who pursue righteousness. Support leaders who seek to advance His Kingdom. They will be known by their fruit—by their humility, sacrifice, and devotion to truth.
Pray without ceasing for those in power. Ask the Lord to guide them, to instruct them, to bring justice through their decisions. Pray that righteousness will prevail. Give heart and mind to this work of prayer. Let God’s laws be written on hearts. Release bitterness, and strive to walk uprightly.
Many before have suffered for standing in righteousness. They were imprisoned, even killed. But God has preserved His people. Today, in this place of freedom, there is space to love boldly and to live out faith with courage.
So stand firm. Let the world see that Jesus is Lord. Pray for His return. Pray for leaders to turn their hearts toward Christ. Live with peace. Live with goodness. Be a light in dark places. Believe that God empowers His people with strength from the Holy Spirit.
Action may be difficult. Obedience may feel risky. But remember: believers are no longer slaves to sin, but servants of the Living God. And to His servants, He promises mercy and grace, even in the darkest hour.
Be honest. Be faithful. Trust that God is working everything together for good. This world belongs to Him. So let His voice guide each step. Let His presence overcome every fear.
Let love endure. Let mercy lead. And let Jesus reign forever in the hearts of all who believe.
